I want to clearly state that I do not believe in federal funding for abortion.  I am pro-life and believe in the sanctity of life.   I am far from alone in this.  According to polling data, 60 – 70% of Americans are also opposed to taxpayers footing the bill for abortions.  Unfortunately, our current second district congressman, Joe Donnelly, was asked to commit to a “No vote” on a healthcare bill that included federal funding for abortion but he would not commit.  Interestingly, even the president unambiguously stated that he would not support federal funding for abortion.  That means that our current representative is ambiguous on his voting intentions with regard to funding for abortions.  This is totally unacceptable and inconsistent with what the second district voters are looking for.
