A few words about Jobs

After being promised that the passage of a bill which included nearly $800 billion of “stimulus money” would ensure the unemployment rate would not increase above 8%, we now find ourselves at a 26 year unemployment high of over 10%.   Furthermore, an additional 7% of Americans are now under-employed or have given up on their job searches.   Given that Northern Indiana has been more severely hit than much of the country, it is possible nearly 1 out of 5 employable individuals in our part of Indiana are experiencing significant unemployment or under-employment struggles.   What a terrible situation!   Additionally, Nancy Pelosi did not afford the time for Congress or the American people to have even a casual reading of the bill….a bill that is one of the largest spending bills in the history of our country!?!?  (We have now discovered billions and billions of dollars in this bill had nothing to do with jobs…rather, as paybacks or slush funds for many Congressional members’ pet projects.)   We are now told, however, to be encouraged by, what has now been labeled, a “jobless recovery”.

I am uniquely qualified in the field of candidates for this Congressional seat when it comes to jobs and job creation.  I have had a successful business career which included significant job creating responsibilities.  I understand finance, job creation and job growth.  I truly understand what policies it will take to encourage companies to return to their hiring ways.   Economics and “numbers crunching” are fun for me.  What exactly is a jobless recovery?  It is throwing money at an imperfect situation for temporary gain with no long lasting effects.  It is known as throwing good money after bad.  A jobless recovery means that the numbers temporarily look good, but in reality people do not have long term job security.  If I may coin a term, I am in favor of a “jobfull” recovery.  Getting men and women back to work in jobs with the potential for growth.  Getting back to the basics of a business friendly environment.   Getting back to the basics of hard work leading to personal and community wealth and prosperity.

Enough is Enough!  It is time to teach politicians like Nancy Pelosi what jobless actually means.   Our first step is to vote out politicians like Joe Donnelly who are directly responsible for her power.  Once Nancy Pelosi is no longer in power, I will fight to ensure there is no more unaccountable spending and soaring debt.  Especially when it does not lead to what is so important to many of us:  More Jobs.
