I have a special interest in Veteran’s Affairs. It is a disgrace that our brave men and women travel hours to obtain care when the care exists in the communities where they live! The men and women who work in the Veterans Affairs offices and clinics are generally excellent at their jobs. They are committed to providing the best services they can within the constraints of the bureaucracy. A bureaucracy that is directly affected by the Veteran’s Affairs Committee. Congressman Donnelly sits on this committee. Although he seems responsive to the needs of the Vets that contact his office, when you look at the overall system, it does not take long to see where change is desperately needed. Change that is promised but is rarely if ever delivered. There is now another set of promises about the goal that veterans obtain care locally. However, this does not happen in many cases. In fact, local services for veterans in the second district have actually been taken away. This should not happen, especially in a district where the current congressman sits on the Veteran’s Affairs committee! The very committee responsible for oversight.
Enough is Enough! Our Veterans fought for us and now it is time for us to fight for them.
